Judge Reed was appointed by Governor Tate Reeves to the Twelfth Circuit Court District to complete the unexpired term of retired Judge Robert B. Helfrich. He previously served as Prosecutor for the City of Petal (2000–2017) and as Municipal Court Judge for Petal (2017–2025). He also held the same roles in the Town of Richton from 2003 to 2025. His Circuit Court appointment began on July 1, 2025.
Prior to joining the bench, Judge Reed practiced criminal defense and personal injury law for 27 years. He has served as President of the Hattiesburg Futbol Club (Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association) since 2019. He is also a member of the Advisory Board for the University of Southern Mississippi’s Dubard School for Language Disorders and the USM Honor Club.
Judge Reed is a U.S. Army Reserve veteran. He earned his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and his law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. He was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1998.
